Travellers are often misunderstood by society. Like any minority, we believe they have a right to live the way they have for hundreds of years. In this varied and interesting role, you’ll discover what they are all about, helping to protect and look after several traveller sites around the county.

We are looking for someone who can really build a strong rapport with travellers and gain their trust. That is what managing every aspect of these sites is about. You will be there to listen to their views, provide them with advice and give them a voice. But you will also ensure that site rules are followed, rents are collected and sites are kept clean. Some routine maintenance around the sites will be handled by you; a summary of the simple tasks expected will be provided. Anything bigger will mean arranging for a contractor.

You will also liaise with Solicitors, the Courts, the Police and Enforcement Officers when the need arises. We are looking for someone with impeccable communication skills, who can comfortably liaise with people at all levels, particularly those from often hard-to-reach parts of our community. Flexible and firm when you need to be, you will have experience of working with the public and some basic administrative expertise. Some knowledge of the European Human Rights framework would be beneficial.
